Keep your story consistent

Updated: Feb 4, 2024

There are many different video types. But the story should stay consistent.

Your story should always stay consistent. What changes is how to wrap that story to each video produced and how it relates to the audience.

Whether you use digital ads to bring people through campaigns. Develop brand videos, product videos, how-to videos or unboxing videos. And finally, social media content and more, it's essential to tweak the story for each video type and the right channel.

People, by nature, try to say more than we have to. We try to jam as much information as possible in a short amount of time. But we've heard it before, less is more, and in video, not only is this true, knowing when to shape the story is critical.

Always share unique and honest stories that are inspiring. We all have inspiring stories in our lives. I mean, you chose to be in business for a specific reason. In the beginning, there was a core idea or dream that fuelled your desire to take a chance on yourself.

Being able to tap into that story and communicate it at each touchpoint is really important because it shares why people should connect with your brand.

People do impulse buying, it comes from a place of connection, and wanting to relate.

If it's a brand video and the story is about why the business or product was started, it might resonate with the audience at an emotional level.

If it's a product video, it needs to touch on the pain points it's trying to fix. Even a simple how-to video is helping your customer learn how to integrate your product or service into their lives.

These different video types serve a specific purpose, but a common theme is the glue that binds everything together.

At the end of the day, if you have the story and people believe, engage, connect with it, they'll become your audience, buy your product, become fans, and do the selling on your behalf.
